Don't Overlook White

When deciding on a color scheme for your wedding, don't overlook white. I find that many of my brides are afraid to use white for fear it is boring. On the contrary, some of the most elegant wedding florals I have constructed relied heavily on a white color pallatte.

White flowers can be very exciting and are always elegant. White always looks fresh, clean and complements any pastel color. Here are two bridal bouquets and a centerpiece all featuring white flowers that were used in weddings held at Hillside Gardens in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I hope they give you some good ideas for your wedding.

This bride knew she wanted to incorporate a lot of white into her floral arrangements but was worried about looking "washed out." I made sure to use subtle greens in contrast to the ivory flowers. I also feel white can be contemporary or modern depending on your taste. To the left is a bouquet with more traditional approach contrasting with the modern calla lillies above.

White can certainly be an intimidating color choice. But with the right attitude and the right florist, shades of ivory will create subtle sophistication to be enjoyed by you and your guests.

Romantic Bouquet In Soft Subtle Colors

Thank you Cathy and Sean Cayton of Cayton Photography theses beautiful pictures. This bride chose a romantic look using subtle colors. She selected a blush colored rose and white hydrangea. She preferred little greenery so I created a small collar of galax leaf to frame the bouquet. I think the dome shaped bouquet complemented her wedding dress and the sheer organzia bow added the perfect detail. Her wedding was held at Pauline Chapel with a reception to follow at the Broadmoor Hotel.

Floating Flower Bowls

Floating flower bowls can add a dramatic touch to your wedding reception. Especially when you place then on an uplight which illuminates the flowers from below. Another option is to place the bowl of floating flowers on a gold charger and light the area with votives. These floating flower bowls were used at a wedding last October held at the Garden of the Gods Club. This wedding was inspired by the fall season a full moon and of course the beautiful red rock formations in the Garden of the Gods. I thought might like to see the corsage that the mother of the bride wore. It was stunning on her gold suit.

Angela and Jeff's wedding

Angela loves purple and wanted her flowers to have an antique romantic look to conplemet her dress. She selected purple cala lilies , sand colored roses and scabiosa. I added a little peach colored wax berry and maine blue limonium to give it that romatic victorian look. Thank you Cathy Cayton for theses beautiful pictures. Sara and Brian's Wedding

Thank you Cathy Cayton of Cayton Photography for these beautiful pictures. Sara and Brian were married at the Fine Arts Center of Colorado Springs this July . Sara chose an organic feel for her flowers utilizing colors in blush pink, lime green, and browns. The flower towers were placed on each side of the alter and then moved after the ceremony to the reception site. As the evening darkened the the uplights were turned on which created a dramatic glow for a fun evening of dancing and celebration.The wedding cake is also made by Ambience Florals and decorated with antique green hydrangea and Sahara roses with a lime green ribbon. I couldn't resist showing you the picture of the groom holding the bouquet. Thanks Brian you make the flowers look gorgeous.
